The Wats Guys

Visual identity for new product line

Wats Guys is a software company producing modeling tools for sewer management. They asked me to make logos and other visuals for their new products: Mega-Wats and Mega-Vent.

Similarities and hierarchy

The product logos follow the same monochrome linedrawing style as the company logo, but they also stand in clear hierarchy. So the customers easily understand that they´re the products, and not companies.

It features a more minimalistic approach in order to use the essential elements and still illustrate the same symbols like the previous logo option: water and gas phases in the sewer system.

A monogram type logo with hidden double arrows illustrating airflow and process. The clean, straight lines express a professional feel, and highlight the technical rigorosity the company is famous for.

Owing to their clean straight lines, the shapes can be downsized to 16x16 pixels.

Color palette

The primary colors are derived from the original company logo. The secondary ones are chosen based on the rules of color harmony. They were carefully selected in order to provide high contrast, making them easy to use for charts and graphs.
In addition, these colors emphasize the collegial, friendly atmosphere the company offers to its customers.

Paragraphs

The WATS model simulates biological and chemical processes in sewer networks in great detail. It predicts how wastewater constituents are transformed and degraded as the wastewater flows from its source to the final treatment. WATS simulates all relevant processes in all parts of the network. It simulates what happens in both wastewater and sewer air, predicts the amount and quality of sewer air vented to the urban atmosphere, calculates concrete corrosion, and simulates injection of chemicals to manage H2S and odor. The WATS model is the by far most advanced tool for modelling processes in sewers, and has proven itself on large and complex catchments.

The font Montserrat was inspired by the old posters and signs in the traditional Montserrat neighborhood of Buenos Aires, and designed by Julieta Ulanovsky.
It´s now a classical choice for any use, and ensures high legibility.
Using it for the paragraphs maintains optimal contrast with the Merriweather.
